Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 27, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how GG Arena (“GG Arena”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our platform for organising, running and following backgammon tournaments. By creating an account you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

  • Account details — your name, email address and password (stored securely in encrypted form).
  • Profile details — optional information such as your country/nationality and player history.
  • Tournament data — clubs you join, events you enter, match results and rankings.
  • Notification data — if you opt in, a device subscription used to send you reminders and updates.
  • Usage data — basic technical information (such as approximate location from your IP and pages visited) to keep the service working and improve it.

2. How we use your information

  • To create and manage your account and player profile.
  • To run tournaments — pairings, results, standings and rankings.
  • To send you notifications and reminders only if you opt in (match times, results and updates).
  • To keep the platform secure, prevent abuse and comply with our legal obligations.

3. Notifications & reminders

Notifications are strictly opt-in. When you tick the notifications box (at sign-up or later) and grant your browser or device permission, we store a push subscription so we can send you relevant reminders. You can turn notifications off at any time from your device settings or your GG Arena account, and we will stop sending them.

4. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal data. Certain information is shown publicly as part of running tournaments — for example your player name, nationality, results and rankings may be visible to other participants and on public event pages. We share data with service providers who help us operate the platform (such as hosting and email delivery) only as needed to provide the service.

5. Data retention

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and maintain tournament history. You can request deletion of your account at any time (see your rights below).

6. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent laws:

  • Right of access — obtain a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to erasure — request that we delete your personal data (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Right to restrict or object — limit or object to certain processing, including marketing.
  • Right to data portability — receive your data in a portable format.
  • Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent (e.g. notifications), you may withdraw it at any time.
  • Right to complain — lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Our lawful bases for processing are: performance of a contract (running your account and tournaments), your consent (notifications), and our legitimate interests (keeping the platform secure and improving it). To exercise any right, contact us using the details below.

7. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted password storage and secure connections. No online service can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and review our practices regularly.

8. Children

GG Arena is intended for a general audience. If a participant is a minor, a parent or guardian should manage their account and consents on their behalf where required by local law.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be communicated through the platform.
